My Brothers,

 Our first meeting in May as mandated by Grand Lodge Constitutions was the election of officers for the ensuing year. It is my honor and privilege to be elected Master again.

 Several years ago, in 2003, two lodges merged with the hope of forming, in time, a new stronger lodge. It was a new beginning, or if you will, a new foundation. Now seven years later, we have a lodge where brothers wait to get into line, help out during degrees, or support the lodge by being regular sideliners and coming to lodge for the fellowship. Don’t you love it when a plan comes together?

 The second meeting of the month was a second degree. We passed five brothers to the degree of Fellowcraft.  I must tell you my brothers, it was a very special evening. W∴ Pete Lupo did a fantastic job in the East. Bros. Al Vargas and Josh Sundquist did a great job with the questions and answers. Bro. Andrew Lupo did his usual great job with the working tools as did W∴ Steve Miller with the charge. Bro. Michael Geller finished up his year as Sr. Deacon in great fashion and will now move on up to the Jr. Warden’s chair.

 My thanks to the brothers who also contributed by acting as conductors during the degree and also came down to the rehearsal. A very special thank you to W∴ Bart Forvath of Spartan Lodge who presented the ‘Middle Chamber’ lecture. To all of this my brothers there is something else I must add, dare I say it, the night was fun, yes fun. We all worked hard, very hard, to put on this degree and to do competent ritual, and excellent ritual it was, but it was the fellowship and brotherhood at the dinner before and the collation after the meeting that helps make our lodge a fun place to be on meeting nights.

 With each new brother raised, a new brick is added to that foundation. In addition to the five Fellowcrafts, we already have on the trestleboard for the fall, a new class of eight and possibly ten applicants. How tall will our lodge grow? As high as the heavens!  At this moment the sky is the limit!

 Our first meeting in June is awards night. It promises to be very special as we will be honoring several brothers for their many years of service to the craft. The second meeting of June, will be our annual installation of officers for the ensuing year. The  Installation will be a tiled meeting and I welcome and invite all brothers to please come down and support your lodge.

 May everyone  enjoy the summer. Have fun, but please be safe and I will see you all again in the fall.

My Brothers;

 Your 2010 dues are due. As you know, dues are due on the 1st of January, each year. Included with this mailing are the 2010 dues cards for all members who have already made their payment for this year. If you do not yet have your 2010 dues card, please make an effort to send in your payment so that that your new and current dues card can be mailed to you.

 Another dues notice will be included with next month’s meeting notice for all those with dues still outstanding. Please make every effort to make your payment as soon as possible. Your dues are the lifeblood of the lodge and these funds are used to cover all of our expenses.

 If you feel there is an error on your statement, please contact the secretary immediately.

Tidings

W∴ Peter Lupo went to visit Bro. Peter Lukas and reported that he is not doing well. He is a resident in the Long Beach Nursing Home. W∴ Peter will visit him again this weekend and will report back to us. I’m sure that Bro. Peter would welcome a visit from any of his brothers.

 Congratulations to W∴ Steve and Patty Miller, their youngest daughter will be graduating from college on Memorial Day.

 Congratulations to W∴ Stan and Ann Saffron who will be celebrating their 56th wedding anniversary on May 30th.

April 2010

My Brothers;

 The arrival of Spring brings with it , a renewal of life. Flowers bloom, grass turns green, baseball starts and summer nears. Like Spring, our lodge is in the process of a renewal or rebirth.

 Our second meeting in February and first meeting in March, the last with grateful appreciation to the Spartan Lodge #956 Drama Team, saw the raising of seven new brothers. At our next 2 meetings during the month of  April, we will be having 2 first degrees to accommodate the 7 new candidates awaiting their initiation into the fraternity. Talk about rebirth!

 I realize this year has been filled with many degrees and not as many programs as I would have liked, however, as has been said before, the main purpose of a Masonic Lodge is to turn men into masons, and without masons, programs would be of no consequence.

 Our second meeting in March was a ‘Walkabout The Lodge’ for our newly raised brothers where the various stations, places and officers were explained to our newly raised brothers. Because it was not a degree night and with other scheduling problems, all of the officers were not present and we had several brothers in advanced stations. Bro. Davin Goldman, preparing for next year, sat in as Senior Deacon and did a great job. A very special thanks to Bro. Jay Alweis, who, although not a current officer, sat in as Junior Deacon. Bro. Jay is one of those brothers who comes to every meeting and whenever I ask him to do something, he steps up and gets it done, thanks Bro. Jay.

 I would like to also extend my thank you’s to V∴W∴ Sam Schwarzman who presented the working tools and to R∴W∴ Edward  Callaghan who sat in as Junior Warden for the evening. Their assistance at the third degree on March 10, 2010 is greatly appreciated. A very special thank you to our District Deputy Grand Master, R∴W∴ Charles Catapano who, despite the passing of his mother the previous day was present at our third degree to honor a commitment he had made to me and our lodge. 

R∴W∴ Charles Catapano was also present for our ‘Walkabout’. After the program, the DDGM thanked the lodge for its’ support during his term in office and congratulated us on the work we have done, the men we have raised and the support we have given to his programs and to the First Nassau District. 

I am also happy to report that the lodge welcomed R∴W∴ Omar Karom back from his two week visit to family and friends in Florida. It was great to have him back. 

As this Masonic year winds down, and preparations for the new term begin, I must tell you, my brothers, I was saddled with a very happy dilemma, the likes of which the lodge has not seen in many years. We now have more brothers wanting to get in line and take chairs, then there are chairs open. Fear not, for those brothers who do not yet have a chair, there is always some way you can assist the lodge , either by conducting or studying ritual to be ready to jump in if needed. Like I said, Talk about rebirth!

Congratulations to our newly raised members, Bro. Mark R. Lerman and Bro. Michael A. Williams who were raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason on March 10, 2010. 

Best wishes to Bros. Davin Goldman, Robert Leyendecker, Andrew Lupo and Al Vargas who just celebrated their 2nd Masonic Birthdays on 3-26-2010. 

Our best wishes to Bro. Richard Rattan who has recently published another children’s book titled “The Rainbow Adventure”. The proceeds of this book are being donated to charity and it’s nice to know that we have a published author in the lodge with such noble goals. 

More good news, W∴ Steve and Patty Millers daughter Rachel (the married one) is scheduled to present them with their first grandchild sometime this August. 

Our best wishes to Taylor, daughter of Bro. Al Vargas who will be celebrating her 16th Birthday at a really big birthday bash on 4-01- 2010. 

Good news from W∴ Peter Lupo, his mother recently had successful surgery and is back home recuperating. 

We received a report from W∴ Steve Miller that he has visited our Bro. Peter Lukas in the Long Beach Nursing Home, Peter expressed the fact that he misses his brothers and attending lodge.
