December 2009
My Brothers
Our only meeting in November was the conferral of the second degree. We passed 6 brothers to the fellowcraft degree. For those brothers who did not attend you missed a wonderful degree. W Peter Lupo was in the East for the entire degree and also presented the working tools, and did his usual magnificent performance. W Steve Miller, on very short notice, did the a great job in presenting the charge. Bro. Micheal Geller, who was sick and should have stayed home did a great job at Senior Deacon despite being under the weather. A flawless job on the questions and answers was done by Bros. Davin Goldman and Josh Sundquist. Bro. Bob Leyendecker did a super job as Marshal and Bro. Chris Montuori performed as our organist and W Stanley Saffron, DSA was our Chaplain —-Great job —-great Lodge! My thanks to W George Kivowitz, DSA and Bro. Lee Pollet for filing in, at the last minute, as Sr. and Jr. Masters of Ceremony. Special thanks to W Russ Schwager for filling in as our tiler and a very special thank you to our District Deputy Grand Master, RW Charles Catapano for doing the Middle Chamber lecture on extremely short notice. I would be remiss if I did not thank those brothers who acted as conductors for the degree; Bros. Jay Alweiss, Michael Cooper and George Geller, though often overlooked, without conductors no degree can take place.
Our only meeting in December, on the 9th, will be a Summoned Communication to conduct the annual business of the Lodge including the possible unaffiliating of brothers who are in arrears with their dues, and for any other Lodge business which may present itself. After the meeting, we will be holding a meeting of the South Shore Foundation to discuss possible changes in the By-Laws and to elect a new line of officers. This is a very important meeting my brothers, for several reasons, please make every effort to attend.
As previously stated, on December 12th, Saturday, the brothers of the lodge will be at the King Kullen shopping center for the bell ringing program. I have commitments from several brothers for which I am extremely grateful. I do however, need several more brothers so I can complete the hours requested and can make a schedule, please contact me. Your cooperation and assistance is greatly appreciated.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to RˆWˆ Gerry Zidel our District Staff Officer who is home recuperating from a medical procedure. RˆWˆ Gerry was scheduled to do the Middle Chamber Lecture on 11/11 until this arose. He has always been very gracious and generous with his time for our lodge. Have a speedy recovery Gerry!
The District once again is offering the Grand Lodge Masonic Development Course on January 9th &23rd and February 6th. The course will run from 8:30 AM to noon at the Scottish Rite Hall in Rockville Centre. This course is for those brothers who are interested in learning more about the craft and seeking further light. For our newly raise brethren, I encourage you to avail yourself of these courses. Please contact me or our secretary for further information.
Finally my brothers, A very Happy Holiday Season to all. See you in December.
Jay

FROM THE SECRETARY’S DESK
Enclosed with this meeting notice is your dues bill for the year 2010. Please remember that your dues for the new year are due as of January 1st. The Lodge extends the courtesy of allowing receipt of the dues for the full year, until December 31st, however, the funds are necessary to run the Lodge and for its’ other operating expenses. Early receipt is greatly appreciated.
Unfortunately, it appears that the 13 brothers who still have their dues outstanding for 2009 will be unaffiliated if those funds are not received by December 31st. Letters, with proof of mailing, have been sent to each of these brothers. If you receive one, please make your payment immediately.
Your dues are the lifeblood of the Lodge and are used to cover all of our expenses.
If you feel there is an error on your statement, please contact the Secretary immediately and we will review your account with you.
Tidings
We are happy to report the RW Omar Karom has had successful eye surgery. He is scheduled to go in for additional eye surgery shortly and we hope it goes as well. In addition, he has had numerous other tests which have all resulted in good reports from his doctors. We hope to see Omar back in Lodge in January. He would appreciate hearing from his brothers while he is home.
Congratulations to W Stan Saffron DSA, who celebrated his 83rd birthday on 11/13/2009
Congratulations to Rachel Miller, daughter of W Steve and Patty Miller on passing the N.Y. State Bar Exam on her first try.
FROM THE SOUTH
Dear Brothers,
I wanted everyone to be aware that the Long Beach Auxiliary Police are having a holiday toy drive for the benefit of children that have lost a parent or loved one at Good Shepherd Hospice in the past year. The holidays are always a tough time when a loved one has recently been lost but can be more so when the parent that passed was the main source of income for the family.
To try to alleviate some of the burden and to make their holiday a little brighter, we are collecting new, non wrapped gifts for a boy or girl between the ages of 5 to 17 years old. The Auxiliary Police will deliver all of the gifts to the children on December 5th, 2009.
As many of you know, I am a member of the LBAPD and so are several other Brothers. We did this last year and it was a great success and the children’s joy was priceless.
If you’d like to donate, please give me a call.
Peter

You made some decent points there. I looked on the web for the difficulty and located most people will go along with together with your website.
